{Eat} Dessert First!

Dessert First! has completed its first year as a start-up which is an incredible achievement when it comes to start-ups in Nepal. A year ago, two friends and now Co-Founders, Avisha Tuladhar and Neha Gurung, got together and decided to give it a go; making desserts for the sweet tooth and adventurous foodies in Kathmandu! And we are ALL extremely glad they DID! Dessert First! is a Nepali Artisan Dessert Company. The brand was launched with a principal objective of conceptualizing, producing and distributing high-quality desserts, chocolates and baked goods.

“For all our recipes, we aim to use all-natural and local ingredients unless certain components cannot be sourced locally, we try to make it ourselves, resorting to importing ingredients only as a last inevitable option,”

Avisha, started making chocolates in 2013 and even took Second Place in Pralines Category of the MORDE Baker Challenge at the Food & Drinks Hospitality Exhibition. She started her journey with Shokolade, a chocolate brand that her family started, which focuses solely on making chocolates. However, Avisha wanted to venture out and do more. Avisha is a creative soul, a singer without a trained vocal cord and an actor without attempt on taking herself seriously.

“It is one of our goals to be able to change how customers currently view dessert in this region and we aim to raise the standard of the desserts being perceived and eaten here in Kathmandu/Nepal. We view ourselves as a potential partner brand to the fulfilling of all sweet and dessert requirements to quality restaurants, cafes, homes and corporate houses; one stop shop brand name when it comes to any desserts and chocolates,”

Neha, comes from a Film and Marketing background and is committed to her love affairs to them. From aesthetics, designs, research, long hours and late nights, her passion for Dessert First! is unbeatable. She is on a never ending journey for knowledge and experimenting with desserts, she is always hungry for more, which fuels her love for her work. Neha is endearing in her “NERD ALERT” way, she is a power house of creativity and dresses down in heels.

Dessert First! already has a vast range of chocolates; Nepali Rocky Road, Tiger Marble, Oreo Meteor, Oreo Galaxy, Tropical Island, Super Food Coins, Macha Coins, Fudgy Dallo and the list goes on including their famous Cake Pops! In such a short period, their hard work has been showing and the girls look forward to a bigger, brighter and delicious future!
