Alright! Valentine’s Day is here and there are two things happening. Either you don’t have a date in which case its completely fine, just take some chocolates and flowers for your mom and show her some gratitude.
On the other hand if you do have a date or a shot to impress the girl or boy (whatever you’re into) with a date that’ll make or break your love festival for 2019, I firmly believe, your confidence and character will bring a lot to the table but your style will play an important but subtle role on your date. It's like wearing armor, that’ll help you in this battle of love. So buckle up young knights we’ve got a long way to go.
1. Suiting Up!
The first go to look on any date would be the “formal” jacket and suit wear. The mistake you might be making is, it’s a date, not a business meeting. You wouldn’t want to intimidate your date. You may want to go with a suit jacket with chinos that complement the shade of the jacket. Make it playful by accessorizing it with a scarf (preferably long in length). Go for gray because it compliments almost anything. Finish the look by styling your torso with an oxford shirt and shoes. Finally, for the love of God, put some cologne on. Preferably something that really has a great musk and also it's been rainy this February so it’ll go well together.
Note: Make sure your jacket, shirt, and pants are tailored to your fit. The benefit of living in Nepal is that tailoring is very affordable and can be done really fast. I’m saying slim fit not 90’s rock band tightly glued to your legs fit. It makes a difference. If you don’t have access to cologne then any spray that is “musky” is fine. Carry a disposable handkerchief so that you can wipe your shoes with and trust, it’ll get dirty.
2. Keeping it Casual!
If you’re not the suit kinda guy, we can tone down your wardrobe in something more casual. Personally, one of my favorite looks is the half mono-chromatic look paired up with jeans. What I mean is, the wardrobe on your upper half has the same color tones. For example, if you’re wearing a red flannel, it is paired with a red or maroon jacket or hoodie. In this case it’s a maroon bomber jacket. If it's rainy, go for boots because it’s easier to wash off any dirt or grime you accumulate.
Note: Same advice goes for your jeans, slim fit. Since it’s a casual get up, be wary of your posture; avoid slouching. Even if you are wearing boots, carry that handkerchief, you might need it. For the fragrance, keep it sporty but depending on the weather, you might want to go to your option given above.
3.Home Alone!
The third scenario, where you haven’t planned anything but invited your lucky date at home, in your intimate domain, wear something that doesn’t make you look shabby. I would go with a T-shirt that subliminally plays with her/his mind. Go for a fitted tracksuit or joggers, and wear a T-shirt with a funky message. For the color of the T-shirt, go for red or blue.
Note: Wear deodorant. At all circumstances, you want to smell fresh. You would be indoors, so clean your feet, hands, and neck.
In end, you’ll need the 3 C’s; Consent, Comfort and Con… Couch…. You know what I mean (*wink)
Now, you’re all set! Give it your best shot and take this chance to give your date the best time of his or her life (again, whatever you’re into). God speed soldier!!!
